Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Fund Development & Community Relations Director works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Directors and all staff to expand and diversify Stanford Youth Solutions charitable contributions funding base in support of the Agency’s mission and programs. In addition, this position is responsible for raising its profile. This position is also part of the Executive Team, assisting in making critical decisions for the entire Agency. The Fund Development & Community Relations Director plans and manages individual, Board, corporate, legacy and foundation giving programs, and designs and oversees community cultivation strategies. Responsibilities include developing and implementing short and long-term fund development strategies, as well as directing and managing all aspects of media (including social media), communications, promotional events and community outreach. Work is performed in a cost effective and service oriented manner as it relates to established organizational standards. The Fund Development & Community Relations Director is accountable to the board approved Fund Development Plan. The Director of Fund Development & Community Relations is responsible for the planning, implementation and monitoring of the activities of the Fund Development and Community Relations Department. In coordination with the Chief Executive Officer, the Director works with the Board of Directors regarding fundraising and community relations events and activities.  This position supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of Stanford Youth Solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Philanthropy, Fund Development, Communications or a related degree is preferred
  • Five (5) years of successful, progressive, professional fund development experience, preferably for a non-profit organization
  • Five (5) years of public relations experience, including knowledge of and/or experience with web-site development, advertising and public speaking
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Executive Leadership and a Board of Directors to develop and implement the vision and future direction of the Agency
  • Ability to understand budgeting requirements and budgetary implications for programming
  • Demonstrated experience showcasing excellent judgment and initiative, strategic thinking, a proven and healthy work ethic, a collaborative work style, and the confidence and strength to inspire colleagues, staff and volunteers to get tasks accomplished  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of local and/or regional funding sources, strong relationships in the community are preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to organize time and prioritize workload to complete assigned work on time
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, function in stressful situations, and be cooperative and dependable under stress
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities, along with the ability to easily and readily adapt to the changing needs of the department and agency
  •  Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment within department and agency wide
  • Ability to work in a mobile, fast paced environment
  • Ability to use a laptop computer
  • Adhere to all confidentiality requirements
  • Verbal and written ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, board members, community partners, consumers, staff and all levels of leadership
  • Fulfillment of TB test, background check clearance, and any other mandatory State/Federal requirements
  • Valid California driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance, can maintain a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier
  • Must provide and operate a registered, properly insured automobile

Salary

Hiring Range: $85,000+
