Wonder Program Specialist
Family & Youth Partnership/Wonder


The Wonder Program Specialist works under the direction of the Family and Youth Partnership Director to support the implementation and coordination of the Wonder mentoring program. The Specialist assists in the achievement of Wonder’s program objectives and overall program quality. The Specialist collaborates with Wonder mentoring program staff and volunteers to connect guides who are trained to listen, support, and guide each foster child through fun, age-appropriate experiences—music, the arts, sports, and outdoor activities. Supports the Mission, Vision, and Values of the agency.

Essential Job Functions
  • Program Responsibilities
    • Collaborate with Wonder coaches to provide appropriate guidance to Wonder mentors
    • Review Wonder Coach logs for monthly completion
    • Facilitate match coordination of volunteers and youth
    • Recruit mentors and mentees
    • Facilitate mentor interviews
    • Facilitate mentor orientation and training
    • Facilitate interviews of County Social Workers and/or mentee’s caregivers
    • Documentation of any necessary mentor or mentees incidents
  • Event Coordination
    • Facilitate Wonder events
    • Plan, coordinate, and prepare for events for youth as well as those for volunteers
  • Partnership Development
    • Build strategic partnerships with community-based organizations to support the program
    • Author Wonder newsletter and blog posts to promote outreach and recruitment
  • Database Management
    • Manage all pertinent documents for Wonder mentors and mentees
    • Utilize an agency and county databases to input information about volunteers and their matched mentees
    • Coordinate the referral process from applications to interviews to final assessment
  • Youth Engagement
    • Identify and develop youth leadership opportunities
  • Other duties as assigned

Specialist Hiring Range: $19.00 - $22.15 hourly
